23/07/07 Works at modernist house
Plan Projects has been working with a private developer, Kearsley Property, to put together a collection of art at a new-build house in Redington Road in Hampstead built predominantly in brick and glass in a high modernist style. The highlights of the collection are Gabriel Tejada Maggi’s Turn Into Something and one of his most interesting, although as yet untitled works. Both were produced in 2006. Also included in the collection are Alex Gough’s Talven Tie, Julian Wild’s Tangerine 2 and works by Toby Latham, Rupert Burt and Katherine Lubar.
Working closely with the client, ArtLab has organised substitutes of works as part of the loan to arrive at a collection that suits the client’s taste and works with the spaces and shapes within the geometric interior of the house.
Key features of the interior, such as the chimney stack and the windows that ‘turn a corner’ to meet both wall and ceiling to bring natural light into the interior from side and above, create a striking and fitting environment for some important works by these artists.
